The Urbanixm Widgets WordPress plugin provides map and chart widgets for interacting with information about urban policy and interventions. The widgets are built with React and use Leaflet to display geographic information.
Context
Urbanixm collects web documents about urbanism, extracts relevant text passages, and annotates them with information such as urban topics, policy implementation, and intervention impacts. The plugin was developed as a proof of concept for interacting with this curated knowledge base.
My role and contribution
Software engineer. I implemented the plugin end-to-end.
How it works
- Urbanixm Maps: Displays how an urbanism topic is manifested in different places around the world on a map.
- Urbanixm Charts: Displays data charts to support Urbanixm Stories.
Outcome
The plugin provided a WordPress-based interface for exploring curated Urbanixm information.
