The Urbanixm Widgets WordPress plugin provides map and chart widgets for interacting with information about urban policy and interventions. The widgets are built with React and use Leaflet to display geographic information.

Context

Urbanixm tells stories of sustainable urban development through analysis of urban data and by collecting case studies about the impact of urban policy and infrastructure interventions. The widgets plugin creates a connection between the urbanixm stories and the underlying knowledge repository.

My role and contribution

Software engineer. I implemented the plugin end-to-end.

How it works

  • Urbanixm Maps: Displays how an urbanism topic is manifested in different places around the world on a map.
  • Urbanixm Charts: Displays data charts to support Urbanixm Stories.

Outcome

The plugin provided a WordPress-based interface for exploring curated Urbanixm information.
